Amazon has confirmed an outbreak of tuberculosis (TB) at its Coventry fulfillment centre in the UK, prompting calls from a major union for the site’s immediate closure. The company said 10 cases of non-contagious TB were identified in September 2025 and stressed that no additional cases have since been detected. The GMB union raised concerns over worker safety at the warehouse, which employs around 3,000 people, and demanded a temporary shutdown with staff sent home on full pay until infection control measures are fully reviewed. Amazon said it is working closely with the National Health Service and the UK Health Security Agency on an expanded screening programme as a precaution.
Health officials said the overall risk remains low and noted that TB is fully treatable with antibiotics.
